Disappointment sure must like the weather in your New England,
But I guess that's what I get for leaving my Virginia behind.
And the comfort of these mountains too soon fades to gray, and fades away,
In the face of all your leaden sky.

So what am I supposed to do about this feeling that I can't shake-
Although I've left you all behind?

The whole ride home, I avoided songs that reminded me of brighter things.
And fuller days-
Surrounded by people just like me.
And as we topped the hill, and I saw again my valleys-
All the solitude that I'd grown accustomed to reminded me of why I'd fled to you.

So what am I supposed to do about this feeling that I can't shake-
Although I've left you far behind?
And what's the back-up plan? Because I can't think of one right now.
And this air I breathe stings with bitterness of another broken dream...

It's just another song, about another day, and another thing that never happened..
Maybe you'll get this one, or just look away. It's all the same.
Because there are no words that you could say that would soften this unexpected landing.
I wasn't ready yet. It's too much to forget. I don't have the energy.
